Peter has practiced exclusively in the commodity tax area since 1988. His main practice area has been the Goods and Services Tax (GST) since its inception in 1991.

He is a recognized expert in the GST, customs and provincial sales tax issues in the energy industry, and has been retained by the Department of Finance to consult on proposed legislative changes affecting the resource industry.

He is also a popular consultant for practicing CAs who require specialized assistance in the complex rules of GST.

Peter teaches the GST and Commodity Tax Issues in the Oil and Gas Industry course at the University of Calgary and the Canadian Petroleum Tax Society, and has spoken and written articles on commodity tax matters for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Petroleum Tax Society, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, the Calgary CA Small Practitioner’s Forum, and the Entrepreneurial CAs of Calgary.
